Premise

Development

In medial August 2020, it was reported that Prabhas and Prashanth Neel were to unite for the latter's coming directional after KGF Chapter 2( 2022). The former was reportedly impressed with the latter's debut film Ugramm( 2014) and wanted to make a film in the kidney. Prashanth, during a media commerce in medial October, verified the collaboration between the two. On 2 December, the design was intimately blazoned by Hombale flicks, who are funding the design. Touted to be an action suspenser, the film marks the first collaboration between director Prashanth Neel and Prabhas, and the first Telugu adventure of Neel. On his part, Prabhas stated" My character is extremely violent, so this is commodity I have n’t really done ahead." A many reports claimed that the film is a remake of Neel's debut film Ugramm, still, Neel clarified that Salaar isn't a remake but an original story written for Prabhas.

The film was formally launched in Hyderabad on 16 January 2021. Ravi Basrur is composing the music while Bhuvan Gowda is the photographer.

Casting

Actress Shruti Haasan was cast in a commanding part in January 2021. Kannada actor Madhu Guruswamy is set to play a vital part. In March, actress Easwari Rao was inked to play Prabhas' mama . latterly in August, Jagapathi Babu joined the cast, whose character was revealed as Rajamanaar.

In October 2021, Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran entered addresses to play a pivotal part in the film.  In March 2022, Prabhas said that Prithviraj will attend the promotional event of his film Radhe Shyam de Salaar. 

latterly in June, Prithviraj stated that he gave a nod to the script but was trying to acclimate the dates to work in the film. latterly in October 2022, Prithiviraj's part was verified and the film marks his return to Telugu cinema after 12 times, following his appearance in Police Police( 2010). Sriya Reddy is also cast in a crucial part.

Filming

The film's shoot began on 29 January 2021 in the coal mines near the megacity of Godavarikhani, Telangana. First schedule was completed by February 2021. Alternate schedule of the film began in August 2021 in Hyderabad.

About 30 of the shoot was completed by March 2022. Filming was halted due to the release of Prabhas' Radhe Shyam( 2022) and Neel'sK.G.F Chapter 2( 2022) and was planned to be proceeded in May. still, Prabhas passed a knee fracture in March during his holiday in Spain, which further delayed the shoot.  In June 2022, a new schedule began at Hyderabad's Ramoji Film Campus where Prabhas and Haasan entered the shoot. 

 The platoon also shot a 20- nanosecond long action sequence in the middle of the ocean, spending about ₹ 10 crore on the scene.

 The makers of Salaar are said to have used the Dark Centric Theme (DCT) technique while shooting the film, making it the first Indian film to do so. As a result, the film's light pattern and color palette would be darker. 

Marketing

 The teaser of the film was released on  July 6, 2023. The teaser had further than 83 million views in 24 hours, breaking the records of all Indian flicks. The caravan of the film was released on 1 December 2023.

Theatrical

Salaar Part 1 – Ceasefire is listed for a theatrical release on 22 December 2023 standard and IMAX formats. It'll be released in Telugu along with dubbed performances of Kannada, Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam languages.

It'll be released from the product house Hombale flicks in Karnataka. It'll be distributed in North America by Moksha pictures and Prathyangira Playhouses concertedly. Prithviraj Productions will distribute this finance in Kerala. The Tamil Nadu distribution rights were acquired by Red Giant pictures. AA flicks will distribute the film in North India.
